by Fr. Frederick William Faber, D.D.

Originally printed in 1858, Impr., 345 pages.

This amazing book is a series of topics, each different from the other. The first is Kindness. Father Faber points out that man is no doubt very weak, but he has the power of making the world happy, and this power is called Kindness or the Spirit of Jesus. There is a separate section for Kind Thoughts, Kind Words and Kind Actions.
The next topic, - and it is a very important one - is On Death in 74 pages! We have never seen anything close to the extensive thoughts expressed, so we are making this chapter available separately, see below. This chapter alone makes buying the book worthwhile.
There are 10 other chapters on various subjects. All of them are so very well written, and inspirational. They include: Self Deceit, Weariness in Well Doing, Wounded Feelings, Heaven and Hell, On a Taste For Reading. I will comment on one topic called “On Taking Scandal”: Father Faber said “to give scandal is a great fault, but to take scandal is a greater fault”. It is doubtful that any topic in this remarkable book would fail to inspire.
