O Beata Trinitas - The Prayers of St. Gertrude and St. Mechtilde
The Prayers of St. Gertrude and St. Mechtilde. Translated by Rev. John Gray.
Impr. 1927, 141 pages.
The prayers in this book were first committed to writing in the year 1289 by St. Gertrude. “It is owing to the scrupulous heed paid to God and His truth that the devotion found in these writing is suitable for all. The time, place and other circumstances give colour (sic) and a characteristic turn to utterances, even on the lips of Christ our Lord; illustrations from daily life and custom bear the imprint of the century … and date their writings exquisitely. They (the prayers) give a charm which has its value.” Something of the ways of God will be learned from each page from this most unusual and rare book.
