Sacristan’s Handbook A Practical Guide for Sacristans - Rev. Bernard Page

Score: 5.00 (votes: 1)

Sacristan’s duties are made much harder by the fact that he is not quite sure of what is wanted of him on certain occasions. This is especially the case at times like Holy Week, when a great many preparations have to be made for unusual ceremonies. The Sacristan who takes an intelligent interest in his work will want to know something of the various articles that he daily handles, their proper and correct shape and size and form; he will want to know something of the ceremonies for which he has to prepare; he will want to know how best to order and arrange his sacristies; he may even at times be asked to give advice to the Altar Societies that give so much of their time and energy to the service of the altar. It should be made quite clear at the outset that this book is intended for use chiefly in parochial or non-cathedral churches. Consequently such ceremonies only are considered as may take place outside a cathedral.
