Delivered as a course of addresses to young men; yet all ages and genders will profit from this book as it is about acquiring virtue, or the habit of doing good, something beneficial to all of us. The book is very practical; here’s a quote: “The matters in which a young man most needs the restraint of prudence are (1) the care of his health, (2) the use of his time (3) the spending of his money, (4) the choice of his books, (5) the making of friends,” etc. Father Rickaby then expounds on each topic. The other three Cardinal Virtues are likewise covered.
